Description

"marisa night" is a pixel art drawing, depicting Marisa sitting on her broomstick against a starry night sky background. There are wavy patterns in the sky, with stars being expressed with various 4 directional sparkle shapes

Marisa has a bright yellow outline to separate her from the background, and the colors used are generally warm. Simplistic cel-shading was used for most parts, with her clothing and frills having more detailed shading.

Background

"marisa night" is a pixel art I made while attempting to make a game for Unity. I wanted a kind of warm, cozy atmosphere to it, resulting in this piece. Marisa was one of the first characters I drew (despite not being displayed here), making it easier for me to create this drawing.

The name of this piece was given afterwards, "marisa night" being chosen because the drawing is Marisa in a night environment. reimu night is meant to serve as a companion piece to this one.

Techniques

There was a focus on colors on this piece, using mostly shades of yellow, orange and purple for warmth. Darker colors have less shades, while brighter colors have more due to their extra details, allowing the night sky, hat and dress to stay simple, while having detailed shading on the frills and stars.
