Description

"wave" is a pixel art drawing, depicting Koishi waving at the screen with her left hand against a solid maroon background.

There are no outlines, and the fill is made up of simple cel-shaded colors.

Background

"wave" is, first of all, a pixel art. Unlike typical drawing, I was already quite familiar with pixel art at the time. Of course, that doesn't mean I knew anything about anatomy or perspective, leading to this awkward looking drawing. I still think the colors were quite nicely selected though. My motivation for this drawing was to have a Minecraft map art with this as the image, but in the end, I decided to scrap it for being too time- and resource-consuming. Regardless, the drawing itself turned out not too bad.

This was before my pixel art and my other art progress "merged", so you might see a stark difference between the two going forward. This was also made when my main art medium was pixel art. The name of this piece was given afterwards, "wave" being chosen simply because the drawing depicts Koishi waving.

Techniques

There were attempts to made the clothes look more three dimensional using streaks that represent clothes folds. In my opinion, it didn't quite work. Shading details were added to the hair in discrete streaks to make them look more crumpled up together.
