Description

"melancholy" is a drawing of Marisa looking over a forest on top of a cliff during rainfall. The hill with the Hakurei Shrine can be seen in the distance.

Background

While drawing this, I was preoccupied with quite a large art project, which meant that I probably wouldn't be able to create a lot of art during October through November. Thus, I decided to make a simple drawing, using the same charcoal brush I did for palace, to get it done quickly, as well as to use that style again.

Before this, I was listening to Touhou music as usual, but in addition to the usual Hifuu tracks, I also listened to Magician's Melancholy from The Grimoire of Marisa, which directly inspired this artwork.

Techniques

I added some glow and a few stray droplets near the "ground" to make the faint rain feel more realistic. I also used a lot of fog, mist and cloud effects to make the image look more atmospheric.
