Description

"chat" is a drawing of Renko and Maribel chatting while holding hands. The background contains stars on Renko's side, and a gap on Maribel's, with a transluscent clock encompassing them both.

Background

I wanted some physical goods, but as usual, Renko and Maribel, being unpopular as hell, didn't have a lot of associated merch. Therefore, I decided to make one of my own. This artwork was specifically made to be used as an acrylic standee, which is why there is no full background.

I also wanted the two characters to interact with each other (i.e. physically touch), which is why I drew them holding hands. The composition was also directly inspired by bsky, which was also a drawing made for a physical product (stickers, in the case of "bsky").

Techniques

A lot of techniques were used to give the drawing a "warm" feeling. A lot of the outlines near the face are significantly reddened, with a soft glow applied to a lot of bright colored parts. Most of the colors were given a warm orange tint, while also being somewhat desaturated. A pencil-style brush was used for the outline to enhance that feeling. Subsurface scattering was heavily used, especially in parts where a lot of skin meets one another (between Renko's legs, the intertwined hands, between Maribel's fingers, notably).
