Description

"balance" is a black-and-white drawing of Renko and Maribel positioned like a yin-yang symbol. The entire canvas is circular, with Renko representing the yin and Merry the yang.

Motive

I aimed to draw a black-and-white drawing as seen in manga, and naturally gravitated towards a yin-yang design. One of my friends then suggested that I make the entire canvas circular, which ended up being the main point of interest for this drawing.

Process

First, I drew the circle as a base and outlined the yin-yang symbol in Paint.NET. The remaining process was done mostly in Sketchbook, utilizing a Manga Ink brush to emulate the feeling I want. I sketched out the basic forms, and then did the lines and fill. While doing the lines, I either warped some of the features to match the circle, or blended them in with the background. One of the most notable examples is Renko's cape thing, which fills the entire "top" half of her part.
